PHOTOBIOMODULATION
HorsePower combines 660 nm red light and 850 nm near-infrared light. Photobiomodulation is the study and use of light to influence biological processes, with results dependent on wavelength, dose and delivery.
Equine studies use varied devices and protocols. Evidence from a therapeutic laser cannot be assumed to apply to an LED blanket.

Comfort, ease of movement and recovery are the goals owners often bring to this technology. Whether your horse improves—and how quickly—cannot be predicted from the blanket’s specifications.
Record your horse’s usual response to grooming and tacking up. Discuss changes in back sensitivity with your veterinarian rather than testing painful areas yourself.
A small PEMF pilot reported improved pressure-pain thresholds, but had no control group and used a different device.
With your trainer, compare the same easy warm-up under similar conditions. Note stiffness, willingness and symmetry. Video can help keep observations consistent.
These are things to monitor, not established HorsePower benefits. New lameness needs veterinary assessment.
Log workload, session use and next-day behavior. Keep feed, exercise and other therapies in the record so changes have context.
A controlled equine PEMF study did not demonstrate faster recovery after moderate exercise. A quiet horse during a session does not prove treatment efficacy.
Start with a baseline. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and your veterinarian’s plan. Review the record together. There is no established HorsePower result timeline, and improvements are not guaranteed.
Light-therapy findings depend on dose, delivery and the condition being treated; laser-study results cannot be transferred directly to an LED blanket.
